Scene Of The Accident, Inc (SOTA) is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization dedicated
to saving lives through training. SOTA was formed in 2001, after the World Trade
Center attacks, for the purpose of providing updated accident scene safety
training to first responders.
In 2005 the demand for our training programs increased to the point that our
founder, Todd Hoffman, registered as a non-profit organization and began
devoting all of his time to developing and presenting new training programs.
Requests for training grew to over 4000 Fire/Police/EMS departments from all
across North America waiting for a date when Todd could come to their department
and present one of his training programs.
Due to the increasing demand for training, and the constant changes being made in
today’s automobiles, SOTA developed a 14 part training series in 2006 that is
offered in a “Train-The-Trainer” format. This format allows us to provide
training to a group of professionals that in turn take the information back to
their respective areas and train others. This format allowed us to reach over
50,000 first responders in the first 14 months.
In 2009 Todd worked with subject matter experts from all across the globe to
develop new procedures to reduce the time it takes to extricate victims from
vehicle crashes and get them on their way to the hospital. These new procedures
have proven to reduce patient fatalities and decrease injuries to first
responders. These advanced procedures are available in our new “Vehicle Rescue
in the New Millennium” (VRNM) course.
Todd has committed to providing VRNM in a different State in the US every week
for 48 weeks in 2010. This will offer every department the opportunity to attend
this training and update their procedures. Like all of our courses, VRNM is in a
Train-The-Trainer format, and designed to be used to train others.
Motor Vehicles are changing at
the speed of light and we are constantly adapting our programs to meet these
changes. Our goal is to ensure that every First Responder has the most
up-to-date information available to ensure that no life is lost nor injury
sustained due to a lack of available training.
